fossil turtle, copper bar, 34 x 29 x 315 cm
En attendant la foudre #2 shows the artist’s interest in the origin of matter and the dialogue between nature and culture. The work consists of a fossil turtle on which is placed in balance a copper bar. The turtle’s shell was found intact, transformed into stone after a process of more than 25 million years. If lightning were to strike the copper bar, it would destroy this geological find in a fragmenting of seconds. A fragile balance is played, between heaven and earth, between yesterday and today, creating a kind of vertigo and compression of space-time.
