Yvain!

Éric Giraudet de Boudemange

video game

Yvain! is a video game - an interactive work - by Éric Giraudet de Boudemange, developed in collaboration with video game creator Tomavatars, following a residency at the ESPE de Rennes. This experimental first-person adventure game is inspired by a passage from the novel Yvain, the Knight with the Lion by Chrétien de Troyes, written in the 12th century. With a broken heart, the knight Yvain flees civilization. He plunges into the forest, shedding his clothes, losing his speech and his mind. In this contemporary interpretation, we guide the main character, to the rhythm of his lament, through a medieval universe that is both absurd and offbeat, at the crossroads of courtly love and Game of Thrones.
