Salvation Islandsis an installation Titled consisting of three piles of Bible, Qur'an and Torah. The title ("the Salvation Islands") refers to the three islands of volcanic origin which make up this archipelago and which part of the Devil's Island.
In this work, Hubert Czerepok chooses to represent the texts founders of religions to question their usages and interpretations as forms of power. It collusions under a sculptural form, the relationship between writing, language, history and violence. Each pile of works was perforated by a bullet of revolver and thus resemble one of the volcanic islands of Salvation. By This symbolic treatment, Hubert Czerepok questions how sacred writings can be misled and diverted from their role saving for war and violence.
