Artist

Adel Abdessemed, born on 2 March 1971 in Constantine (Algeria), is a Franco-Algerian artist who practices several techniques (drawing, video, sculpture, installation...). He lives and works in Paris.

He began his artistic training in 1986 at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Batna. Then, he joined the Higher School of Fine Arts of Algiers in 1990, which he left in 1994, following the assassination of the director Ahmed Asselah and his son, in the grounds of the institution.

He then studied and worked at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon (1994-1998), in Paris (Cité internationale des arts, 1999-2000), New York (P.S.1 scholarship, 2000-2001), Berlin (2002-2004), Paris (2005-2008), New York (2009), London and again Paris.

He is represented by the galleries Galleria Continua in Paris and Dvir in Tel-Aviv.
