Guided by inspiration and in harmony with the space, harpist Hélène Breschand interweaves original compositions with repertoire pieces dear to her heart (here, Occam XVI by Éliane Radigue and À la recherche du rythme perdu by Luc Ferrari). In a close encounter with the instrument, Hélène Breschand invites the listener to discover their own inner thread, through the twists and turns of an intimate labyrinth. It is an inner journey, an invitation to rediscover oneself.
The program presented by cellist Marie Ythier invites us on a journey to the heart of the sonic spectrum, with works by the Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi, as well as those of Tristan Murail, whose pieces for solo cello Marie Ythier recorded on her latest album, Une Rencontre, Schumann-Murail (Métier, Naxos 2019). It was the French composer who introduced Giacinto Scelsi's music to France, after their meeting at the Villa Medici in Rome. Jonathan Harvey, an English composer closely associated with the spectral music movement, has written magnificent works for cello, including Curve with Plateaux, inspired by Tibetan sounds and resonating like a mantra. Also influenced by Orientalism, Bastien David offers us a unique and rhythmic universe in Riff. This piece, commissioned by the Messiaen Festival in the Pays de la Meije in 2017, was written for cellist Marie Ythier on that occasion.
