Territoires EXTRA#3 - Amarrer à l’ombre

For more than two years, Gabrielle Manglou has been working on a global project, H.O.C., hypothesis of the debossed object, which questions material culture in Reunion, its vernacular sphere. H.O.C. allows him to work in Rhizome. It relies on both formal, pictorial, sociological, political, anthropological. She plays with such notions as acculturation, negation, value, status, loss, resilience, reparation, legitimacy, confusion, etc. sliding from one playground to another, sometimes blurring the tracks between container and contents. »

The title of the project Amarrer à l'ombre is a reference the lexicon of navigation but also echoes the word used in Creole language to mean "attach", "put together". It's precisely around this word that the artist organizes his installation for the powder keg of the Citadel of Port Louis.  Amarrer à l'ombre objects, places, stories; these are as many leads as the artist explores in his work and will find exposure to citadel. As a fine archaeologist of the past and the present, Gabrielle Manglou makes visible subtle links, shadow zones and the folds of history.

His project of research, creation and transmission to the citadel of Port-Louis, Amarrer à l'ombre takes place in two stages of residence from 14 to 31 October 2019, then the 8-27 June 2020. The residence will be extended by an exhibition, open to the public from 15 July to 1^and November 2020.
