The recently founded Rennes festival Autres Mesures offers listeners contemporary music whose formats or innovative character call for atypical performance contexts. Its first edition took place in spaces usually devoted to the visual arts as sources of inspiration for the composers whose work was played: John Cage, Morton Feldman, Philip Glass, Steve Reich and others.

The concert presented at La Criée by the musicians of Ensemble Chrysalide – Baptiste and Benjamin Boiron, Valentin Broucke, Melaine Dalibert – will take the form of a five-hour instrumental marathon featuring major American figures and their heirs (Giuliano d’Angiolini, Tom Johnson) who have tried to strip music of any narrative tendency in favour of a contemplative or systematic approach to sound in all its rich complexity.
